A guide to keeping your living room clean
The living room should be a space where you can relax, a space where you can welcome guests and enjoy your free time. Therefore, it’s important to keep your living room neat and tidy. But how? Well, the answer is simple, clean regularly. We have compiled a list of tasks to help you establish regular cleaning habits for the living room.
Clean floors regularly:
The living room is used a lot. Whether you spend hours relaxing on the sofa, eating popcorn; work at the table; play games or exercise; or simply walk through it to get to the kitchen, it is one of the most used areas in many homes. This means that the floor is likely to get dirty from things like muddy shoes, food, dead skin cells, pet hairs and much more. Our best advice would be to regularly clean it to reduce build up of dirt and dust. If you have a carpet, vacuum once a week and wash using a thorough carpet cleaner at least twice a year. For hardwood flooring, we recommend a thorough sweep up every 2-3 days, and mopping at least once a week.
Don't forget to dust and polish:
Shelves, plants, decorations, lamps, and all other decorations you may have in your living room are hotspots for dust collection. Ensure you dust and polish at least once a week to prevent dust accumulation in the living room. This will prevent irritation, worsening of effects of respiratory conditions- making it safer for everyone to spend time in the living room. It will also ensure the room looks as aesthetically clean, the air is fresh and everyone in the room will feel a whole lot better- just by cleaning!
Deep clean your couch every few months
Let’s be honest, many of us are couch potatoes. Myself included. Once I get home, and finish extra work, my number one priority is to get on the couch and watch the latest episode of my favourite series- or to re-watch it. It’s not just used for comfort, according to an article in the Daily Mail, 61% of surveyed Americans that work from home, use the couch to work. Most of us spend LOTS of time on the couch, so it is likely to get dirty. Make sure you clean your couch thoroughly at least twice a year- especially if you have pets at home.
